Advanced AI work brought in $876 million for HCLTech during the three-month period ending in September, a figure that stood 72 percent above the same stretch a year earlier on a constant-currency basis and contributed to the IT services firm's broader second-quarter performance. Revenue from advanced AI products climbed 28 percent against the prior quarter, measured on a constant-currency basis.
Advanced AI revenue at the Noida-based firm reached $219 million during the second quarter of FY27, a figure that stood 78 percent above the same period a year earlier and 28.4 percent higher than the preceding quarter on a constant-currency basis.
At HCLTech's Q2 earnings call on 12 October, chief executive and managing director C. Vijayakumar noted that the development had lifted the firm's operating margins by close to 32 basis points. Vijayakumar attributed the margin expansion to disciplined execution and a greater contribution from advanced revenue streams. The margin landed at 18.2 percent — a figure that widened by 131 basis points from the prior quarter and 72 basis points against the same period a year earlier, both readings above the internal forecasts that had been set.
The executive noted that profitability received a lift from stronger returns in advanced AI work, adding that the organisation is integrating AI throughout its delivery operations — covering both ongoing client relationships and newly launched projects — and has observed three distinct advantages taking shape as a result. Those advantages, as described by Vijayakumar, include gains in workforce output, product quality, and customer results.
Adoption of AI tools has also been linked, according to the executive, to stronger client connections and contracts of broader scope. He added that adoption of AI-driven service changes had begun translating into stronger bookings, which he described as a sign the company was securing more business. Profits generated through AI-related activities, he said, would be channelled back into expanding the company's portfolio of AI products and services.
Among the IT sector's earlier movers on AI-related financial disclosures, HCLTech put forward a projection that annualised revenue could contract by roughly 2 to 4 percent as a direct consequence of AI adoption patterns. Four distinct product lines — AI factories, physical AI, semiconductor design oriented toward inferencing, AI-driven marketing services, and platform-based solutions — make up the portfolio that falls under the AI business umbrella.
Net new deal wins posted by the company across the second quarter totalled $3.24 billion, a figure that included a $1.14 billion artificial intelligence contract awarded by Mercedes-Benz.
For the quarter closing on 30 September 2026, HCLTech posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 5,132 crore, marking an 11 percent gain over the year-earlier figure. A net profit of Rs 4,626 crore had been posted by the company in the three-month window preceding the current quarter. Compared with the same period a year earlier, the company's net profit climbed 21.2 percent.
Operational revenue at the company climbed to Rs 35,620 crore through the second quarter of FY27, up roughly 3 percent against the Rs 34,579 crore posted in the preceding quarter. Compared with the same period a year earlier, revenue climbed 11.5 percent.
HCLTech raised the lower boundary of its FY27 annual revenue growth forecast — from one percent to 2.5 percent — while leaving the upper boundary unchanged at four percent, with both figures expressed in constant-currency terms against the prior year, a revision the company attributed to order-book growth recorded across two consecutive quarters. Full-year operating margin guidance has been left unchanged, with the band set between 17.5 and 18.5 percent.
Vijayakumar noted that demand for the company's artificial intelligence offerings had been gaining traction among clients, a trend he said underpinned the firm's outlook for continued expansion. That position was reinforced, he added, by HCLTech's newly announced Global Premier Partnership with Anthropic, an AI developer, aimed at broadening the deployment of Agentic AI across enterprise clients worldwide, with attention to safety, cybersecurity, and governance frameworks.
The board declared an interim payout of Rs 12 on each equity share carrying a face value of Rs 2. Trading on 12 October left HCL Tech stock up by half a percentage point, with each share settling at Rs 1,223 when the session ended. The figures from the reporting period were disclosed once trading had closed for the day.
