US Government Expands Social Media Background Checks to Three New Visa Categories
The US government has expanded social media background checks to cover three new visa categories — I visas for foreign media representatives and TN and TD visas for USMCA professionals and their dependents — effective October 1. Applicants in these categories must keep their social media profiles public to allow review by US authorities. Indian citizens may apply for I visas as media professionals but are not eligible for TN visas, though they may qualify for TD visas as dependents of TN holders.
