Roman Anthony Ruled Out for Rest of Wild Card Series as Red Sox Face Elimination in Game 2
Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony, 22, has been removed from the postseason roster after imaging revealed additional muscle damage in his wrist, sustained during the team's 9-0 Game 1 loss to the New York Yankees. Manager Chad Tracy confirmed the news ahead of Game 2 of the Wild Card series. Anthony, who had previously missed 101 games with a torn ligament in the same hand, had been one of the few productive hitters in Boston's lineup since returning in late August. Infielder Curtis Mead has been added to the roster as his replacement. Sonny Gray will start for Boston against Max Fried in the must-win Game 2 at Yankee Stadium, with first pitch at 8:15 p.m. ET.
