The worldwide release schedule for Ramayana: Part 1 has been confirmed by its production team, putting to rest questions that had lingered over when and where the film would reach cinemas. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the production is scheduled to open across theatres worldwide on 5 November 2026, spanning every available premium format. Ticket reservations are set to become available from Dussehra onwards.
The announcement was released on Sunday, 11 October — a date that also marked the opening day of Navratri. A new ensemble poster for the production places Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Rama, with Sai Pallavi taking on Sita, Ravie Dubey portraying Lakshman, and Yash cast as Ravana. The team posted a tagline — rendered in Hindi as an assertion that a new era tied to Ram was beginning — across social media platforms to mark the release date.
The date announcement followed a period of confusion after conflicting dates had circulated in earlier promotional materials and coverage. A trailer circulated globally under Sony Pictures' banner had listed 6 November as the date audiences worldwide could expect the film to open. Producer Namit Malhotra had previously put forward the Diwali season in India as the intended release window for the film. Unverified accounts had placed the film's Indian theatrical opening on 5 November, with preview screenings a day earlier on the 4th.
Following the formal announcement, 5 November 2026 has been set as the date when the film will open in cinemas around the world. Ticket reservations for the opening chapter of the two-part film are due to go on sale when Dussehra arrives.
A freshly unveiled promotional image offers a look at the film's visual presentation. Kapoor takes on the role of Lord Rama in the production, with Sai Pallavi cast opposite him as Sita and Ravie Dubey portraying Lakshman. Yash portrays Ravana, and Sunny Deol takes on the role of Hanuman.
Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, the production brings together Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, visual effects house DNEG — whose work has earned eight Academy Awards — and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. The soundtrack carries contributions from both AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
Planned as a two-film story, the opening chapter is set to reach theatres on 5 November 2026, with the concluding half scheduled for the Diwali season of 2027. Across India, the two productions are lined up for audiences in five languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Screenings will run across IMAX and a range of other premium presentation formats. Overseas territories beyond India fall under Sony Pictures' distribution remit, with Dharma Productions taking charge of releasing the film across Hindi-language markets.
