MVK Esports defeated FURIA 3-1 at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles on 17 October, booking a place in the concluding round of the 2026 LoL World Championship's Play-In Stage. The result followed an earlier victory and confirmed the Vietnamese organisation's progression through the stage.
The opening moments of Game 1 saw MVK draw first blood through 'Gury', whose Jarvan IV rotation into the mid lane brought down the opposing Syndra player. While 'Kratos' on Zaahen converted a one-on-one opportunity against 'Guigo''s Camille into a kill up in the top lane, 'Harky' on Ezreal went down in the bot lane after pushing too far forward.
Following the capture of both the Dragon and Rift Herald, MVK dismantled a mid-lane teamfight to push their gold advantage past the 7,000 mark, all within the first 17 minutes of play. FURIA chipped away at the deficit with several eliminations, yet MVK maintained a clear advantage across the duration of the match. Holding the Dragon Soul proved enough for MVK to close out Game 1.
During the second match, MVK's mid-lane player — operating on Kog'Maw under the handle 'Chika' — deliberately held at dangerously low health to draw out a Flash from the opposing Viktor, opening up a mutual kill exchange. Back in the lane, Chika encountered persistent interference from the rival support player, a sequence of pressure that resulted in an early recall to base.
FURIA recovered from their opening-round setbacks after Viktor secured a pair of eliminations across several brief early confrontations. Dropping into the top lane, MVK eliminated Ambessa and brought down the first tower to take control of the early game. A shutdown kill came FURIA's way after MVK pushed too deep into the bot lane, though MVK responded by retaking control through the mid lane corridor.
At the 24-minute mark, the Baron objective fell to MVK, and three minutes later the team dismantled FURIA's Nexus to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
With their tournament run on the line in Game 3, FURIA opened the scoring in the bot lane when 'Ayu', piloting Miss Fortune, registered the kill on Leona. MVK drew level not long after, with Jayce operating in the jungle role contributing to the elimination of JoJo's Seraphine — the team's opening kill of the match.
Bot-lane kills accumulated for FURIA across several exchanges, giving the team a positional foothold that carried through the remainder of the match. Carrying two Dragon stacks and a 2,000-gold advantage into the 18th minute, FURIA built their position around Miss Fortune's contributions in team engagements. With Miss Fortune already in a strong position, FURIA extended their lead across the map.
Having eliminated 'Chika''s Mel, FURIA moved to contest Baron as a way of drawing out a team fight, came out ahead in that exchange, and then completed the objective to push their advantage further. FURIA secured the third game of the series by keeping Miss Fortune in play through the final moments of the match.
Four matches into the series, both teams directed their opening energy toward the bot lane. A 2v2 exchange ended with MVK eliminating JoJo's Alistar, and the advantage that followed set up a solo duel between the two bottom laners — one that saw Harky's Corki register a pair of kills inside the opening five minutes, while Tatu, piloting Pantheon, executed a top-lane gank that removed Kratos's Olaf from the map.
At the six-minute mark, MVK's jungler 'Gury' — piloting Wukong — coordinated a two-player takedown in the bot lane that handed Corki back-to-back kills, lifting the champion's record to 4/0/0. At the seven-minute mark, MVK pushed into the opposing team's blue buff territory off the back of their bot lane advantage, clearing out the jungle camps on that side of the map.
Directing resources toward the top lane, FURIA secured another kill on Olaf, stretching the advantage that Jax held over him. A Teleport entry from Jax extended FURIA's run in the contest, with the champion first neutralising Corki — MVK's most valuable target by bounty — and then dispatching Shen to compound the pressure.
After a period of tactical reset allowed MVK to disrupt FURIA's flow and reassert control over their own playstyle, the Baron objective fell to them, and a fourth-game win closed out the series at 3-1. Following their victory, MVK Esports will face Europe's KC in a match that determines which side advances to the Group Stage.
