Kiran Rao Backs Actor Imran Khan After FRRO Issues Departure Notice Over Protest Participation

Filmmaker Kiran Rao has expressed support for actor Imran Khan after the FRRO issued a notice directing him to leave India by October 28. Khan, a US passport holder with an OCI card, received the notice following his participation in an October 10 protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Mumbai. His lawyer has confirmed plans to challenge the notice in the Bombay High Court.

Kiran Rao, known for her work as a filmmaker, has come out in support of actor Imran Khan after the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) issued a directive ordering his departure from the country by 28 October. In a reply to an online post carrying the notice, Rao contested the assertion and drew attention to the actor's longstanding connections with India. Actor Saba Azad, who has spoken publicly about building her life and career in the city, is among those who have reportedly voiced backing for Imran. Attending a gathering that the India Janta Party had organised at August Kranti Maidan, Imran joined other participants on 10 October.
