Kerala Opposition Leader Calls for Removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar
Kerala Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan has called for the immediate removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that the CEC undermined collective decision-making within the Election Commission and conducted electoral roll revision exercises without transparency. Senior CPI(M) leader T.M. Thomas Isaac also raised past allegations against Gyanesh Kumar from his time as a Kerala cadre IAS officer, including his removal from the PWD Secretary role in 2006 following a government-ordered Vigilance probe. Both leaders have called for nationwide protests from September 26 to October 2.
