Karnataka Congress Protests Against Election Commission's SIR Exercise, Demands CEC's Resignation
Karnataka Congress staged a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru against the Election Commission's SIR exercise, demanding the resignation and arrest of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. Senior party leaders including Chief Minister D K Shivakumar participated. The protest followed reports that two Election Commissioners had objected on record at least 14 times to decisions allegedly made without their knowledge, including changes to voter registration forms and centralisation of the electoral roll database. The Election Commission has maintained that all its decisions carry full legal sanction.
