Plans for a Jio Platforms stock market listing — the offering would represent the digital services division of Reliance Industries — have advanced to the point where a public share sale appears to be taking shape. Following Sebi's observation letter, issued in August, questions around offer size, company valuation, financial track record, and when shares might begin trading have moved to the forefront of market watchers' minds.
The planned Jio flotation has drawn sustained attention from analysts and investors, who point to the telecom company's broad national footprint, a growing portfolio of digital offerings, and its role within Reliance Industries' broader technology ambitions as the factors driving that interest. No details on the IPO's opening date, price range, or bidding window have been released by the firm.
A draft red herring prospectus from Jio Platforms reached regulatory hands on 19 June 2026, marking the company's formal entry into the public listing process. On 28 August, Sebi's observation letter arrived, clearing a formal procedural hurdle on the path toward the planned listing. Shareholders waiting on additional disclosures from the firm have been keeping a close watch on the matter.
The DRHP outlines a new share issuance of as many as 27 crore equity units, each carrying a face value of Rs 10, as part of the planned fundraise. No offer for the sale of existing shares forms part of the arrangement, leaving current shareholders outside any divestment component of the public listing. Listing on both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) forms part of the plan put forward for the shares.
How many shares are ultimately sold will hinge on the price that emerges from the book-building exercise. Bloomberg has reported that Jio Platforms is targeting a share sale of approximately Rs 30,200 crore — a fundraising effort that, if completed at that scale, would overtake the Rs 27,870-crore public offering by Hyundai Motor India in 2024 as the largest listing the country has seen.
Jio Platforms now stands at the threshold of a Rs 10 lakh crore market capitalisation, a valuation bracket currently occupied by only three other Indian companies — Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, and HDFC Bank. The subscription book for the offering is tentatively set to open around 21 October, with would-be investors holding back until pricing and formal terms are made available. Those seeking to participate will want to track three pieces of forthcoming information — the revised offer documents, the declared price band, and the confirmed timeline for submitting bids.
Proceeds from the offering are earmarked, per the draft red herring prospectus, to retire — either wholly or partially — borrowings currently sitting on the books of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL), a subsidiary that carries considerable weight within the broader Jio Platforms organisation. What remains of the proceeds has been set aside to cover broader operational needs of the business. Debt repayment provisions in the budget are being pegged at a figure of approximately Rs 27,500 crore, based on available reporting.
Jio Platforms disclosed a total debt position of Rs 70,781 crore for FY26, with its net leverage ratio easing to 0.36 times — roughly half the 0.71 times recorded a year earlier in FY25. Operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation reached Rs 76,255 crore, with that figure representing just over half of total revenue at a margin rate of 51.91%. Net earnings after taxation settled at Rs 30,049 crore.
