Jio Platforms has concluded international investor roadshows and is now in the final stages of preparing its listing documents ahead of an initial public offering that would raise around $3.8 billion, PTI reported. Observers have described the share sale as a contender for the largest public offering ever recorded in India.
According to PTI, the international investor roadshows were fronted by Akash Ambani, who holds the managing director post at Jio Platforms and chairs Reliance Jio, alongside Isha Ambani, executive director at Reliance Retail Ventures. The planned stock market listing by the Reliance group would mark the conglomerate's first equity offering since 2008 and its debut attempt at bringing a consumer-facing division before public shareholders.
Mukesh Ambani holds the chairmanship of Jio Platforms, a position distinct from the managing director and Reliance Jio Infocomm chairmanship roles that his son Akash Ambani occupies within the same corporate structure. Through this listing, the group's core digital and telecommunications arm would enter public ownership for the first time.
No formal announcement has been made regarding a Jio Platforms IPO, though investor expectations have coalesced around a possible debut sometime in the latter part of 2026. Chittorgarh's projected window for the offering runs from October through December 2026, with a possible launch timed to coincide with Diwali or sometime before the calendar turns.
Jio Platforms' draft red herring prospectus, lodged on 19 June 2026, sets out a dedicated allocation category for those who already hold shares in Reliance Industries Ltd, though the proportion of the offering ring-fenced under that provision remains unspecified. Formal confirmation of those particulars is anticipated to follow both the regulatory review by SEBI and the lodging of Jio Platforms' final Red Herring Prospectus.
PTI cited a source indicating that the firm concluded the roadshow phase of its listing process after holding meetings with prospective investors across a range of major financial centres worldwide. Investor presentations took place at stops spanning the United States, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
With roadshow activity concluded, Jio Platforms is now preparing its red herring prospectus, PTI reported, citing a source with direct knowledge of the process. A Red Herring Prospectus sets out for prospective investors the full picture ahead of a share offering — covering how the deal is structured, how the company has performed financially, and a range of other particulars tied to the listing.
Regulatory clearance from the Securities and Exchange Board of India opened the path for Jio Platforms to move forward with a public share offering. That clearance arrived on 28 August, roughly two months after Jio Platforms had lodged its draft IPO documentation with the market watchdog.
As outlined in the company's preliminary offering document, a fresh equity issuance of up to 27 crore shares would hand Jio Platforms roughly 2.9% of the enlarged share capital once the offering closes. Prior reports from those with knowledge of the matter put the flotation's implied worth at approximately $137 billion.
Outlined in the draft prospectus, a substantial portion of the funds raised through the share offering — roughly ₹27,500 crore — would be directed toward settling outstanding debt held by Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, a key subsidiary, whether through full or partial repayment ahead of schedule. Any funds left over are earmarked for broad operational needs across the business.
Two separate equity transactions took shape in 2020 — Meta acquiring a 9.99% share for ₹43,574 crore, and Google securing a 7.73% holding through a ₹33,737 crore outlay. A combined stake of roughly 15.2% changed hands among a group of global investors — Silver Lake, Vista Equity Partners, General Atlantic, KKR, Mubadala, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, TPG, L Catterton, Intel Capital, and Qualcomm Ventures among them — with the draft prospectus placing the total capital they deployed at approximately ₹74,745 crore.
Jio Platforms sits roughly two-thirds in Reliance Industries' hands, with Meta and Google together accounting for a combined stake of close to 17.7 percent. Under the Jio Platforms umbrella sit the group's digital ventures, with telecommunications forming a central part of that portfolio.
In the fixed-line segment, Reliance Jio Infocomm holds roughly a third of all connections — about 157.9 million customers — while its footprint in mobile telephony extends to approximately 506 million subscribers, translating to a 39.29% portion of that broader market. By mid-2026, a subscriber base of 268.5 million people had connected to Jio Platforms through its 5G service, running on a Standalone 5G infrastructure that the company positions as the most extensive of its kind anywhere outside China.
With roughly 15 million fixed wireless access customers on its books, Jio holds the top position worldwide in that segment — a roster nearly one-and-a-half times the size of what T-Mobile, the next-largest provider, has built up in the United States. According to Jio, roughly three-fifths of all wireless data moving across India now travels through its 5G infrastructure.
Built on an established base of network infrastructure and high-volume data traffic, the company has pushed into cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and enterprise network services. Jio Platforms posted a net profit of ₹30,053 crore for FY26, a gain of 15% against the prior year's figure, with total annual revenue climbing 14.5% to reach ₹1,46,885 crore.
