On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet gave its nod to several measures, among them the Rabi Price Policy for the 2027-28 marketing season, a substantial renewable energy initiative, and a smart traffic management system for Delhi. The decisions were disclosed by Ashwini Vaishnaw following the conclusion of the Cabinet meeting. The combined worth of the three deals cited by the government amounted to Rs 2,79,157 crore. The largest share of funding, totalling Rs 1,86,405 crore, has been directed toward the PM DHARA (Developing Harmonized and Accelerated Renewable Energy Access) scheme. A sum of Rs 1,790 crore has been sanctioned for deploying an Intelligent Traffic Management System across the National Capital Territory of Delhi. In a separate decision, the Cabinet also gave its approval to the Rabi Price Policy for the 2027-28 Rabi Marketing Season, with total disbursements to farmers projected at Rs 90,962 crore. Minimum Support Prices for six Rabi crops have been updated by the administration ahead of the 2027-28 marketing season. The revised minimum support prices across six rabi crops are as follows: wheat carries a production outlay of Rs 1,264 per quintal against a support price of Rs 2,610, yielding a 106% return above cost; barley stands at Rs 1,447 in outlay versus Rs 2,286 in support price, a 58% return; gram records Rs 3,751 in outlay and Rs 5,958 in support price, a 59% return; lentil (masoor) shows Rs 3,854 in outlay against Rs 7,390 in support price, a 92% return; rapeseed/mustard reflects Rs 3,367 in outlay and Rs 6,613 in support price, a 96% return; and safflower lists Rs 4,810 in outlay against Rs 7,215 in support price, a 50% return. The MSP refers to the floor price set by the government at which qualifying crops are purchased through the relevant procurement system. This ruling has been issued ahead of the Rabi planting season. During the preceding Rabi Marketing Season 2026-27, the minimum support prices were fixed at Rs 2,585 per quintal for wheat, Rs 2,150 for barley, Rs 5,875 for gram, Rs 7,000 for masoor, Rs 6,200 for rapeseed-mustard, and Rs 6,540 for safflower. According to the Cabinet document, farmers stand to receive approximately Rs 90,962 crore in total disbursements under the Rabi Price Policy. Among the crops included are wheat, barley, gram, lentil (masoor), rapeseed-mustard, and safflower. The PM DHARA initiative aims to broaden access to renewable energy sources while supporting the administration's wider effort to build out clean-energy infrastructure. A sum of Rs 1,790 crore has been sanctioned by the Cabinet to establish an Intelligent Traffic Management System across the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Digital traffic management tools are anticipated to enhance the monitoring and coordination of vehicle flow throughout the city. The rulings address farming practices, clean energy initiatives, and the management of city traffic systems.
