A net addition of 6,450 staff during the July-to-September period of the 2026–27 financial year pushed HCLTech's headcount past the 230,000 mark. Headcount at the Noida-headquartered IT services company climbed to 230,339 by the close of the second quarter, adding roughly 6,450 employees since the June period-end tally of 223,889. After a June-quarter workforce contraction of 3,292 positions, the organisation has resumed headcount growth. A large share of those brought on board had no prior work experience. Fresh-hire intake at HCLTech reached 6,136 campus recruits and trainees across the quarter, a figure that dwarfs the 1,056 absorbed three months earlier and runs ahead of the 5,196 brought on board during the corresponding period a year ago. Over the trailing twelve-month window, the rate at which employees left of their own accord edged up to 12.8 per cent. Compared with 12.6 per cent recorded twelve months prior, the figure stood at 12.7 per cent in the quarter immediately before. Those workforce departure tallies leave out staff classified under involuntary attrition, along with employees working in digital process operations. Recruitment activity in the IT sector has picked up even as companies in that space navigate questions about how automation through AI might reshape workforce needs. Across the broader services sector, firms of considerable scale have pulled back on workforce expansion as client budgets stay tightly guarded against new outlays. Quarterly turnover at HCLTech climbed to Rs 35,620 crore, reflecting an 11.5 per cent expansion against the same period a year earlier and a 3 per cent uptick from the preceding quarter. Compared with the same period a year prior, the company's after-tax earnings reached Rs 5,132 crore — a gain of 21.2 per cent. Quarter-on-quarter, the EBIT margin climbed 131 basis points, settling at 18.2 per cent. Measured on a constant-currency basis, income tied to advanced AI offerings climbed 28.4 per cent against the prior quarter, reaching USD 219 million — a figure that stands 78 per cent above what the same three-month period a year earlier produced. On a per-employee basis, annualised revenue held at roughly USD 65,400, a figure barely distinguishable from the USD 65,500 recorded across the preceding three-month period.
