Google I/O 2025 will take place on May 20-21, focusing on AI and Android updates. Key highlights include Google's AI models and the integration of AI across its products.

Google is set to host its annual developer conference, Google I/O 2025, on May 20 and May 21. The event will include presentations from CEO Sundar Pichai, DeepMind CEO and co-founder Demis Hassabis, and other key executives overseeing Search, Cloud, and Android. These leaders will present updates to Google's product offerings.
The main focus of Google I/O 2025 is anticipated to be artificial intelligence (AI). Google's AI models, Gemini, are expected to be a central topic as the company continues its development efforts alongside other industry players such as OpenAI, xAI, and Anthropic. Updates on DeepMind's projects, including its multimodal AI system, Project Astra, are also expected. In the previous Google I/O, Google introduced smart glasses utilizing Project Astra.
A key theme at Google I/O 2025 will be the integration of AI across Google's product lineup. Elizabeth Reid, Google's head of Search, will give a presentation on the AI stage regarding the role of generative AI in search. Other executives are set to discuss AI applications in scientific research, app usage by AI agents, and AI's role in Waymo's autonomous vehicle navigation.
The Google I/O 2025 keynote will begin at 10 a.m. PT on May 20 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, with a livestream available. Following the keynote, a developer-focused session will start at 1:30 p.m. PT, concentrating on technical aspects rather than consumer updates.
At 3:30 p.m. PT, Demis Hassabis will participate in a discussion with Alex Kantrowitz, host of the Big Technology Podcast, about the future direction of DeepMind's AI and its broader implications. Simultaneously, there will be livestreamed sessions covering updates on Android, Chrome, and Google Cloud.
While not all presentations at Google I/O will be livestreamed, various media outlets will provide coverage of the main announcements.
This year, announcements related to Android will take place a week before Google I/O 2025 during an event called "The Android Show," starting on Tuesday at 10 a.m. PT, with a livestream available.
Google I/O 2025 will focus on AI and XR, with updates on Gemini and Android XR. No major hardware announcements are expected.
