Delhi Police granted approval on Friday, 23 October 2026, covering both security arrangements and crowd-control logistics, clearing the path for Diljit Dosanjh's Delhi concert to proceed on schedule, with BookMyShow making the announcement.
Delhi Police had initially declined to grant permission for the concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 30 October, citing security and public-order considerations during the festive period as the basis for its position. A detailed remediation plan submitted by BookMyShow addressed the objections raised by the relevant authorities, and approval was granted following a review of that submission.
Diljit Dosanjh's Aura Tour has venues across seven cities confirmed on its schedule.
A number of Dosanjh's live events have drawn public disputes and objections over the past few years. At his April 2023 Coachella performance, Dosanjh noticed a woman in the crowd holding the Indian flag and addressed the audience in Punjabi, telling his Punjabi brothers and sisters that the girl carrying his country's flag represented everyone, urging people to steer clear of negativity and reminding the crowd that music is something all people share. Truncated footage of the comment gave rise to charges that the speaker held views hostile to the nation. Dosanjh took to X to address what he characterised as the spread of false information and hostile commentary directed at him.
A formal complaint lodged by Punditrao Dharenavar, a Chandigarh-based assistant professor, brought court proceedings against Dosanjh over his New Year's Eve 2024 performance in Ludhiana — the closing date of the Dil-Luminati Tour — with Dharenavar contending that Dosanjh had disregarded instructions to omit particular songs from his set. Among the songs named in the filing were Patiala Peg, 5 Tara Theke, and Case (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya). Telangana authorities issued Dosanjh a formal notice in the lead-up to his Dil-Luminati concert in Hyderabad, instructing him to keep any material glorifying alcohol, drugs, or violence out of his performance.
Video recorded at Dosanjh's Aura Tour stop in Calgary captured the moment he paused his set after audience members raised pro-Khalistan flags, drawing widespread attention online. Orders went out to venue staff and event organisers to escort the people in question from the premises.
In a Punjabi-language post shared through his Instagram Stories, Dosanjh conveyed that taking part in demonstrations from the outside was something open to anyone. He stated that any attempt to enter the venue and direct harassment toward attendees would not be permitted. Displaying a banner or flag, Dosanjh noted, typically reflects a desire to represent one's origins and express personal solidarity.
At his 2024 Chandigarh concert, Dosanjh addressed the gap in live event facilities across India, noting that the infrastructure needed to support such performances had yet to reach an adequate standard, while also drawing a line around fan conduct, stating that anyone who directed abusive behaviour at attendees outside a venue and then attempted to continue that behaviour upon entry would find such actions unacceptable. A commitment was made to position the stage more centrally at the next event, allowing attendees to gather on all sides.
Dosanjh later posted on X to state that performances in India would not be taking place, adding a one-word denial to reinforce the position. The statement referenced CHD, a channel, a venue, and a probability matter. The performer stated that scheduling a follow-up show in Chandigarh would be put on hold until a venue meeting his requirements could be secured, pointing to difficulties with the location used previously.
Dosanjh drew additional attention when a 2024 post announcing his Chandigarh concert carried the spelling "Panjab" rather than the conventional "Punjab." Commenters on the platform pointed out that a tricolour emoji representing India had been left out of the post. A portion of the user base put forward claims that political motives lay behind the decision. A detailed reply from Dosanjh was subsequently posted on X, addressing the matter at length.
