Delhi Election Commission Issues Notices to Arvind Kejriwal and Family Under Electoral Roll Revision

The Delhi Election Commission has issued notices to Arvind Kejriwal and four family members under the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the "Unmapped with Last SIR" category. The five are among 110 electors flagged in Assembly Constituency 40 (New Delhi). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was also flagged but her entry has since been verified and validated. Around 33 lakh electors across Delhi have been identified in the exercise, with the final electoral roll due on November 4, 2026.

Notices have been issued by the Delhi Election Commission to Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor and former Chief Minister, along with four of his family members, as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. These notifications fall under the classification designated as "Unmapped with Last SIR." The notices were served on Kejriwal, his wife Sunita, their 25-year-old son Pulkit, and his parents Gobind Ram and Gita Devi. Among the 110 voters identified in Part-51 (KG Marg) of Assembly Constituency 40 (New Delhi), the five relatives are included. In the context of the SIR process, a voter is classified as unmapped when their details on the current electoral roll cannot be reconciled with the corresponding entries from the preceding SIR. Those voters must provide documentation confirming their identity and the accuracy of their registration details. Voters whose registered details — including names or dates of birth — contain inconsistencies have also been flagged by the Commission, which is sending out formal notices to both groups through the claims and objections procedure. Rekha Gupta, the Chief Minister of Delhi, was among those identified during the same review process. Records for Assembly Constituency 14 (Shalimar Bagh) included her name among the identified irregularities. The Commission subsequently confirmed that her personal information and supporting documentation had been reviewed and her registration as a candidate approved. Her details are set to appear in the official voter register upon its release on 4 November 2026. The Aam Aadmi Party issued a response following the notices delivered to members of the Kejriwal family. The party raised the matter via X, questioning the absence of a three-time Delhi Chief Minister and his relatives from voter rolls while attributing the omission to political interference. The notices, authorities explained, are part of a broader identity-checking exercise. Approximately 33 lakh voters in Delhi have been identified as having either no match with the previous Special Intensive Revision records or inconsistencies in their data entries. Verification and review of submitted documents are ongoing, with the completed voter register scheduled for release on 4 November.
