Around 7:30 in the evening, he arrived at the hospital and was placed under the care of the pulmonary department, where a medical team has been keeping watch over his progress. Advani remains in hospital, where doctors are continuing his course of treatment. A hospital admission for the BJP leader has occurred more than once during the current calendar year. Media reports indicated that he spent several days at Apollo Hospital following an admission in May, driven by health concerns linked to his age, before doctors cleared him to leave. Advani has been described as one of the BJP's foremost figures, with observers crediting him with a substantial hand in building the party's foothold in national politics. Three separate stints at the helm of the BJP defined his leadership record — a first run spanning 1986 through 1990, a second stretch covering 1993 to 1998, and a final tenure lasting from 2004 into 2005. Holding the portfolio of Union Home Minister across the stretch from 1998 through 2004, he also took on the role of Deputy Prime Minister for the final two years of that span, both positions coming under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led National Democratic Alliance government. Conferred upon Advani in 2024, the Bharat Ratna — the nation's foremost civilian decoration — marked formal acknowledgement of his decades-long engagement in public affairs.
