BJP Criticises Kerala Assembly Resolution Seeking Removal of Chief Election Commissioner
The BJP has criticised the Kerala Legislative Assembly's resolution calling for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. BJP state chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar called it political theatre and argued the assembly should not have taken up a matter pending before the Supreme Court. He also questioned the credibility of the demand given the Congress-led UDF's own role in the process. Both Congress and CPM have maintained the SIR was hastily conducted and excluded genuine voters, while the ECI has rejected claims of dissent within its panel.
