Known as Digital Asset-Backed Borrowing (DABB), the product enables financial institutions to access dollar-denominated liquidity on demand by leveraging their bitcoin holdings as collateral rather than liquidating them through open markets. Users must deposit Bitcoin into the system to generate Circle Wrapped Bitcoin (cirBTC) tokens. The underlying asset is held in accordance with Circle National Trust's fiduciary obligations, with each unit supported by a one-to-one reserve ratio. Participants access decentralised finance (DeFi) platforms through a self-custody Smart Wallet that operates without third-party control. Morpho is the first decentralised protocol with the capacity to provide cirBTC and withdraw liquidity. The equivalent USDC amount is deposited straight into the organisation's Circle Mint corporate account. Anchorage Digital, the parent company of the first federally chartered cryptocurrency bank in the United States, has named LayerZero as its interoperability partner for stablecoin operations. Through the collaboration, tokens issued via the Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. platform will gain interoperability across multiple blockchain networks, establishing a consolidated and protected framework for financial institutions worldwide. By connecting digital assets across more than 170 blockchain networks, the system tackles the problem of scattered liquidity pools. Institutional stablecoins, including Tether's USAT, are set to enable cross-border transactions, treasury operations, and decentralised lending across multiple blockchain environments — among them Ethereum, EVM-compatible chains, and Solana — through integration of LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard.
