Australia's Labor Government to Release Long-Awaited Immigration Policy Ahead of UN Visit
Australia's Labor government will release its immigration policy on Thursday, with Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke addressing the National Press Club on plans to reduce net overseas migration from approximately 300,000 to between 245,000 and 225,000 people per year. The policy was delayed by a month due to Cabinet disagreements. One Nation has also announced a rival plan to reduce temporary visa holders and unlawful non-citizens by more than 750,000 over three years, with a subsequent annual migration ceiling of 130,000.
