Aradhana Misra Mona's assumption of leadership over the Uttar Pradesh Congress unit was accompanied by words of gratitude from departing UPCC president Ajay Rai, who directed his acknowledgement toward Rahul Gandhi and the wider party hierarchy. In a post on X, Rai wrote that his sense of gratitude toward Rahul Gandhi and the senior figures within the Congress party would stay with him throughout his life, given their decision to entrust the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee's top post to someone he characterised as an ordinary member of the party's rank and file. Voices from the assembled crowd rose in unison, repeating a vow to hold their ground and see the effort through. New state-level leadership was put in place by the Congress party in both Uttar Pradesh and Punjab — two states where assembly elections are on the horizon — as part of a wider reshuffling of its internal structure intended to bolster the party's position ahead of polling, with the chant "Har-Har Mahadev" circulating in connection with the announcement.
