Americans in Top-Benefit States Projected to See Largest Social Security Increases Since 2023
Advocacy groups are projecting a 2027 Social Security cost-of-living adjustment of 3.5% to 3.6%, the highest since 2023 and above the 2.8% COLA in 2026. The Social Security Administration is expected to confirm the official figure on October 14th. Retirees in New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, New Hampshire, and Maryland hold the highest median monthly benefits and are projected to receive the largest dollar increases, though all recipients receive the same percentage adjustment.
