WNBA Finals Games 3 and 4 to Be Held at Atlanta's State Farm Arena

The Atlanta Dream will host WNBA Finals Games 3 and 4 at State Farm Arena, the Atlanta Hawks' home venue, after the team sought a larger space than its usual Gateway Center Arena, which holds only 3,500 fans. Game 3 was moved from October 22 to October 21, and State Farm Arena's capacity of over 17,000 seats will mark Atlanta's first WNBA Finals hosting since 2013. The series is a best-of-seven between the Golden State Valkyries and the Dream.

State Farm Arena — the Atlanta Hawks' NBA home — will host Games 3 and 4 of the WNBA Finals, a detail the Atlanta Dream announced Tuesday morning. On the venue's schedule, a Sombr concert falls on Oct. 22, with Hawks home games pencilled in for Oct. 24 and Oct. 29. Under the terms of the deal, the venue is positioned to gain a measurable benefit. According to a prepared statement from WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert, moving to a new venue would bring greater seating capacity to the Dream while opening the door for Atlanta to host a WNBA Finals game for the first time since 2013 — a prospect that State Farm, league officials, and broadcast partners had each conveyed support for when consulted.
