White House Releases Itinerary for Trump-Xi Summit Meeting

The White House has published a three-day itinerary for the planned visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan to the United States. The schedule includes an arrival ceremony at Joint Base Andrews, bilateral meetings and a state dinner at the White House on September 24, and a visit to the National Archives before departure on September 25.

A schedule for the forthcoming talks between Trump and Xi Jinping was published by the White House. On Wednesday, September 23rd, Xi and his spouse Peng Liyuan touched down at Joint Base Andrews, located on the outskirts of Washington D.C. Trump and Xi met on the tarmac, where both leaders took part in a welcoming ceremony — an occurrence described as uncommon for the military installation. On Thursday, September 24, bilateral discussions between Trump and Xi took place throughout the day, concluding with a formal state dinner. President Trump is scheduled to welcome Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan to the White House. The two leaders proceeded to a ceremonial military review in the Rose Garden before convening their bilateral talks. Melania Trump and Peng were scheduled to attend a separate gathering in the Washington area, though no details about the planned occasion had been released by the White House. That evening, a state dinner for Xi and Peng is scheduled to take place in the White House's East Room, hosted by the Trumps. Remarks from both leaders are scheduled to open the dinner, which will be attended by an array of guests drawn from the technology and finance sectors. On Friday, September 25, Trump and Xi, along with their respective spouses, are scheduled to meet for tea at the White House. The group is scheduled to visit the National Archives in Washington to examine founding documents of the United States. The two leaders are scheduled to travel to Joint Base Andrews.
