West Virginia Solar and Battery Project to Power Google Data Centers with Dispatchable Clean Energy
A solar and battery storage project in West Virginia will combine 86 megawatts of solar power with 380 megawatt-hours of battery storage to supply Google's data centers. The Mammoth Solar site in Kanawha County will feature conventional lithium-ion batteries and a zinc-based long-duration battery system from Eos Energy Enterprises. The facility, expected to begin operation between 2028 and 2030, will be built on a reclaimed coal mine and represents up to $350 million in investment.
