Visitor numbers to Truth Social dropped by more than 30 percent over the course of a year, according to platform traffic data. Figures from digital intelligence firm Similarweb put the platform's daily visitor count at around 260,000 for last month, down from a high-water mark of 420,000 recorded in June 2025.
Truth Social sits at a measurable distance from the platforms that dominate the social media landscape, a gap that widened as its user numbers fell. Data gathered by Backlinko puts Facebook's daily active user count at over 2 billion, while X — the platform formerly known as Twitter and now under Elon Musk's ownership — registers roughly 130 million daily users across the globe.
A request for comment was directed to Trump Media & Technology Group, the organisation that operates Truth Social.
Trump's social media platform was established in the wake of his Twitter account being deactivated on January 8, 2021, roughly 48 hours after a crowd forced its way into the U.S. Capitol. Trump Media & Technology Group came into being the month after, with the Truth Social platform going live in February 2022.
The president has built up a notable platform following through a pattern of multiple daily posts. During the same period, Trump turned to Truth Social to back a semiconductor investment, push out favorable press coverage of his own record, and distribute an AI-produced clip depicting him in a face-off with a tiger.
The footage in question centred on the death of William Chapman, a 23-year-old British man with a mental health condition, who was killed by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Prior to posting the AI-generated clip — which depicted him in a confrontation with the animal before pursuing it — he had shared video of Chapman's final moments alongside a caption reading "Don't ever mess with nature!" No mention of Chapman's death appeared anywhere in those posts.
On Columbus Day, Trump used his Truth Social account to direct criticism at Roy Cooper — the outgoing North Carolina governor then pursuing a Democratic Senate seat — asserting in a post that no governor in history had compiled a worse record on crime.
Data from a prior review showed Trump's output on the platform reached 861 posts during May, a pace that worked out to roughly 27 entries per day. By comparison, his posting rate in April had sat at 18 per day. Recording the highest volume of Truth Social activity since taking office, Trump posted and reposted more times during May than in any prior month, edging past the 782-item tally set back in January.
