Tennessee Law Enforcement Agencies Expand ICE Partnerships Under New State Law
A new Tennessee law requiring law enforcement agencies to partner with ICE has contributed to a growing number of sheriff's offices and municipal police departments entering 287(g) agreements. Three agreement types — the Task Force Model, Jail Enforcement Model, and Warrant Service Officer Program — each carry different responsibilities and financial arrangements for participating agencies. The expansion has prompted community responses, including from faith leaders in East Tennessee.
