The Tamil Nadu BJP's State Central Committee, meeting the day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state, passed a resolution describing him as an advocate for Tamil culture, tradition, language, and history on the international stage — a move the party framed as a repositioning toward Tamil identity politics. The TVK's electoral victory in the state — a party whose name carries no Dravidian label — appears to have prompted a repositioning toward Tamil identity politics within the rival organisation.
Three elements make up the TVK's party flag: a Vaagai flower, drawn from ancient Tamil Nadu as an emblem of triumph; elephants that Sangam-era Tamil kings deployed in warfare; and a flag song titled "Thamizhan kodi parakkudhu," meaning a Tamilian's flag is in flight.
At the Thiruparankundram temple, where the BJP had campaigned on matters such as permitting a lamp to be lit at a new location — a contest the party lost heavily — its recent meeting produced no resolutions addressing Hindutva-related concerns. Plans covering both economic growth and infrastructure investment across Tamil Nadu formed a central part of the party's address.
A resolution adopted at the gathering endorsed Narendra Modi's work toward honouring Tamil cultural heritage and advancing the social, cultural, and economic wellbeing of Tamil Nadu. In its statement, the party drew attention to the Prime Minister's references to Tamil literary figures Thiruvalluvar and Bharathiar during public addresses, his vocal championing of the martial legacies of Chola rulers Raja Raja and Rajendra, and the broader platform he extended to cultural and historical emblems associated with Tamil Nadu.
One resolution pointed to initiatives such as the Tamil Sangamam programme as efforts to preserve Tamil cultural traditions and promote the language, while a separate resolution stated that the prime minister had been raising the profile of Tamil heritage across various international and domestic platforms, including the release of a Russian-language edition of the Thirukkural at the BRICS summit. A drive aimed at safeguarding Tamil Nadu's archaeological heritage and traditional places of worship drew endorsement from the party.
Viksit Bharat's contributions to advancing Tamil Nadu's cultural heritage, linguistic traditions, and the energy of its younger generation drew attention across the state. The party pointed to three central government welfare programmes — PM Ujwala Yojana, under which cooking gas cylinders were distributed to households, PMAY-G, through which housing was made available to low-income families, and PM-Poshan, aimed at improving nutrition among women — as examples of measures rolled out during the administration's tenure.
The resolution's text asserted that government welfare programmes were delivering tangible support to low-income households and providing them with a more stable standard of living. The panel voiced backing for Narendra Modi's record in public office, characterising his tenure as one oriented toward the welfare of citizens and the pursuit of sound governance.
The party also voiced support for the Atma Nirbhar Bharat programme, a policy initiative described as intended to strengthen domestic production capacity and position the country among the world's more industrially advanced economies.
