Shafali Verma's Maiden T20I Century Powers India to 114-Run Win Over Bangladesh at Asian Games 2026

Shafali Verma scored her maiden T20I century — an unbeaten 49-ball 100 with nine sixes — as India posted 195/4 and then dismissed Bangladesh for 81 to win by 114 runs in the Asian Games 2026 women's cricket semifinal at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. Smriti Mandhana contributed 37 and also set the record for the most runs in women's T20 internationals. India will face Sri Lanka in the gold medal final on Tuesday.

Shafali Verma struck the first T20I century of her career as India defeated Bangladesh by 114 runs in the women's cricket semifinal at the Asian Games 2026, played at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. Mandhana moved ahead of Suzie Bates to become the leading run-scorer in women's T20 international cricket, with the two batters putting the Bangladeshi bowlers under sustained pressure throughout their partnership. That boundary brought her T20 international tally to 100 sixes, with India's score passing 50 runs in the fifth over. Mandhana's innings ended on 37 when a slog-sweep off Nahida Akter was pouched by the fielder stationed at deep mid-wicket. Shafali brought up her half-century with a six, a stroke that also marked her hundredth maximum in the format. Kaur needed time to find her footing before hitting the boundary off Nahida, after which she and Shafali built a partnership of 94 runs while the bowler endured a difficult spell. Harmanpreet was caught behind off the bowling of Rabeya Khan, who had earlier dropped a caught-and-bowled opportunity to remove the batter at the crease. Batting first, India Women set a total of 195/4 across their 20 overs — anchored by Shafali Verma's unbeaten century, with Harmanpreet Kaur adding 40 and Smriti Mandhana contributing 37, while Shanjida Akter Meghla took 1-25 for Bangladesh — before bowling out their opponents for 81 in 15.4 overs, with Dilara Akter the highest scorer on 27 and Deepti Sharma taking 3-7, Nandani Sharma 3-25 and Shree Charani 2-7, to secure a 114-run victory.
