Oil Markets Face Mounting Pressure as Middle East Conflict Enters Seventh Month
The Middle East conflict has extended to seven months, exhausting the oil market's supply buffers. Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline has been knocked offline by drone attacks, threatening 4 million bpd of Red Sea crude exports. The U.S. SPR is at its lowest since the early 1980s, global oil inventories have fallen by 507 million barrels since February, and diesel prices in the U.S. hit $6 per gallon for the first time. Chevron's CEO stated that price risks remain on the upside, and demand reduction is now the market's primary adjustment mechanism.
