Northrop Grumman Selects ThinKom Antenna for U.S. Navy E-130J Phoenix II TACAMO Aircraft
Northrop Grumman has chosen ThinKom's ThinAir multi-orbit antenna to provide satellite communications for the U.S. Navy's E-130J Phoenix II aircraft. The aircraft is being developed to replace the E-6B Mercury in performing the TACAMO mission, which maintains communications between the National Command Authority and U.S. nuclear forces. ThinKom's antenna offers high-bandwidth beyond-line-of-sight connectivity, anti-jam capabilities, and survivability features. Northrop Grumman was named prime contractor for the E-130J Phoenix II in late 2024, and financial terms of the antenna contract were not disclosed.
