Mitchell Santner will captain New Zealand when the side takes the field across a five-match ODI series against India, with the squad for that assignment now confirmed. Four players — Finn Allen, Lockie Ferguson, Rachin Ravindra, and Tim Seifert — have been included in the squad, with the opening fixture set for November 4.
Five T20I matches, running from October 22 through to November 1, are set to conclude before the ODI series gets under way. That 2-1 series result on Indian soil — the first time New Zealand had taken an ODI series there — now serves as a reference point from which the team looks to build going forward.
Both Allen and Ferguson are poised to rejoin New Zealand's one-day international squad, with neither player having appeared in that format since 2023. At the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup semi-final held in Mumbai against India, Ferguson stepped onto the field for what would prove to be his final appearance in ODI competition.
Seifert's place in the touring party extends through the remaining pair of ODIs as well. Having missed New Zealand's T20I fixtures while his shoulder healed, Ravindra is set to feature across the opening three games of the ODI series.
For the final two matches of the series, the ODI squad will operate across two separate groups, with seven players brought in to bolster the roster beyond its original composition. A portion of the touring party will depart following the third ODI, heading into preparations for the Test series against India.
Fourteen players were named to the New Zealand squad for the opening three matches, with Mitchell Santner leading the group as captain and Tom Latham taking the gloves, alongside Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Nathan Smith, Blair Tickner, and Will Young.
Thirteen players have been named to the New Zealand squad for matches four and five, with Mitchell Santner leading the group as captain, Mitch Hay and Tim Seifert sharing wicketkeeping duties, and the remaining ten spots filled by Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Kristian Clarke, Jacob Duffy, Matt Fisher, Lockie Ferguson, Nick Kelly, Blair Tickner, and Will Young.
A 14-player Test squad drawn from New Zealand's ranks is anticipated to be named ahead of the India series, with the announcement pencilled in for early November.
Five matches make up the ODI itinerary, with Auckland hosting the opener on November 4, Wellington following on the 7th, Hamilton next on the 10th, and Mount Maunganui rounding out the series across back-to-back fixtures on November 13 and 15. No squad announcements covering either the ODI or Test formats have come from India ahead of the New Zealand tour.
