Kerala Assembly to Seek Removal of Chief Election Commissioner in Historic Resolution
The Congress-led Kerala government is set to move a resolution in the state Legislative Assembly on Monday calling for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The resolution, to be moved by Chief Minister V D Satheesan, also demands reinstatement of eligible voters removed during the Special Intensive Revision process and reconstitution of the Election Commissioner selection panel. Kerala will become the first state assembly in India to pass such a resolution, with cross-party support expected from the UDF and LDF.
