India Government Bond Yields Spike Amid Rising US Treasury Yields and Crude Oil Price Pressures
India's benchmark 10-year Government Security yield closed at 7.19 per cent on Monday, reaching levels last seen in April 2024, as rising US Treasury yields, crude oil prices at $106 per barrel, and expectations of a domestic rate hike combined to push bond yields higher. The yield has hardened by approximately 26 basis points in September 2026, and a treasury executive indicated it may test a previous high of 7.61 per cent recorded in June 2022 within the next month.
