On Monday, representatives of the INDIA bloc are set to deliver a memorandum to Chief Justice Surya Kant at the Supreme Court, raising concerns about alleged electoral roll tampering and calling for a halt to the Special Intensive Revision process. Rahul Gandhi, who holds the Leader of Opposition post in the Lok Sabha, is heading up the march.
Addressing a gathering in his capacity as the Lok Sabha representative for Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, Gandhi described the planned march by opposition figures to the Supreme Court as one guided by feelings of affection, communal harmony, and national commitment. Kant had declined the meeting Gandhi sought, noting that the matters he intended to raise were already under consideration by the Supreme Court.
Alongside Gandhi, the gathering is set to draw Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, Mamata Banerjee — who founded the Trinamool Congress — and Tejashwi Yadav, who leads the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
Ahead of the planned march by INDIA bloc leaders, law enforcement deployed personnel across key locations in central Delhi. An advisory covering Monday was issued by authorities, who called on residents to stay off roads in the affected zones unless travel was necessary and to work alongside officials in keeping traffic flowing.
Six stations along the Delhi Metro network — Patel Chowk, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, and Barakhamba Road — had their passenger entry and exit points shut by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Closure of those stations was set to continue through 4 pm on Monday.
Forces from the RAF (Rapid Action Force) and the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) took up positions in the Barakhamba Road area, close to Mandi House. Patrols and deployments around Janpath, along with several surrounding localities, were reinforced.
A planned demonstration by CJP members and their supporters at Jantar Mantar did not go ahead after a number of the organisation's leaders were taken into custody. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced that several stations would operate with entry and exit points closed between 6 AM and 4 PM on 12 October 2026 for security-related reasons, adding that agencies would keep the situation under review and provide updates as needed.
Interchange access at the relevant metro stations continued unaffected. Road-use restrictions and route diversions across Delhi on Monday prompted the Traffic Police to advise motorists to limit non-essential journeys through impacted zones, observe posted diversion signs, follow the directions of personnel on the ground, and extend cooperation to keep vehicle movement orderly.
Ahead of the procession to the Supreme Court, Rahul Gandhi posted a video on X describing the planned gathering as one that would draw people together across party lines, gender, caste, community, and state boundaries. He noted in the post that young people had taken to the streets in Delhi the previous day to demonstrate in a peaceful manner.
According to accounts from those present, physical force was used against the group by both police officers and BJP-affiliated individuals. Participants announced plans to gather at the Supreme Court the following day, describing the demonstration as one that crosses lines of party affiliation, gender, caste, religion, and regional identity.
Speaking to reporters that Sunday, Gandhi said youth groups, every party in opposition, civil society bodies, and all those holding firm to democratic principles and the nation's constitution would stand with the movement.
Three matters are expected to reach the Supreme Court on Monday, when INDIA bloc leaders plan to deliver a memorandum addressed to Chief Justice Surya Kant — covering allegations from opposition parties that votes were improperly obtained, objections to the nationwide Special Intensive Revision drive, and a demand that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar vacate his post.
