Florida Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar Publicly Criticizes Trump Immigration Policies Ahead of Re-Election Bid
Republican Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar of Florida released a campaign advertisement publicly questioning President Trump's immigration enforcement policies, stating that some efforts have "gone too far." Salazar, who is running for a fourth term in Congressional District 27, has long championed the bipartisan Dignity Act as her signature immigration reform effort. Her challenger, Elliot Rodriguez, responded with his own video. The district, where approximately three in four residents are Hispanic, has been reclassified by multiple forecasters from solid Republican to likely Republican. The White House has not commented on the advertisement.
