Delhi Court Sets Aside Magistrate's Order in Electoral Roll Case Involving Sonia Gandhi
A Delhi court has set aside a magistrate's order that declined to direct an FIR against Congress leader Sonia Gandhi over her alleged inclusion in the 1980 electoral rolls before she acquired Indian citizenship in 1983. Special Judge Vishal Gogne found the earlier order lacking in reasoning and remanded it to the ACJM for a fresh, reasoned decision. The court itself did not order the registration of an FIR, clarifying that such a power rests with the magistrate. The matter will be heard again on 29 September.
