Congress Renews Demand for Chief Election Commissioner's Resignation Over Electoral Roll Revision
The Indian National Congress has renewed its demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the immediate suspension of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Party leader Jairam Ramesh criticised the Election Commission of India's press release, alleging it did not directly address recent media reports of internal differences. Ramesh raised concerns over voter deletions in Goa, deadline extensions in Delhi and Maharashtra, the ECINET portal review proposal, and new requirements placed on first-time voters through changes to Form 6. The ECI has maintained that all processes comply with electoral law and has continued the SIR-related activities.
