Congress Demands Resignations of Modi, Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Over Voter Roll Revision Process
The Congress Working Committee has passed a resolution demanding the resignations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over concerns about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The party accused the Election Commission of conducting the process without transparent safeguards and called for the restoration of 13.3 crore names it says were removed from rolls, along with independent inquiries into discrepancies. The resolution followed reports of internal disagreements among Election Commissioners, which the Election Commission denied constituted a rift. The INDIA opposition bloc is also set to meet in Delhi to coordinate a broader response.
