Combined All Blacks-Springboks Double Rugby World Cup-Winning Dream Team Revealed

From 5 September 2009, following a 33–6 victory over Australia, through to 5 November 2016, when Ireland handed them a 40–29 defeat in Chicago, the All Blacks sustained an unbeaten run in international rugby that ranked among the longest the sport had seen. The Springboks pioneered a front-row rotation strategy — bringing on fresh props and hookers late in games, a tactic known as the "Bomb Squad" — and over their previous 12 Rugby World Cup matches, they outscored opposition by 143 points to 24 in the closing 20 minutes. Having been left out of the 2015 Rugby World Cup squad, Dagg went on to establish himself as one of New Zealand's premier fullbacks, contributing boot work, aerial reliability, and attacking flair across 66 Test matches, of which only four ended in defeat. That year he touched down against the Springboks in Wellington after beating multiple defenders, then contributed a try in Soweto to help seal victory during John Smith's 100th Test cap, going on to deliver some of his strongest performances at the 2011 World Cup. His display during the 20-6 defeat of Australia at Eden Park drew widespread praise as one of the more notable individual contributions by an All Black in a World Cup match. At the time of his retirement in 2015, he had compiled an unbeaten run of 15 victories from 15 Rugby World Cup outings, while also having started 90 of 94 Test matches in the centre position — a figure that surpassed all others in that role. His 40-metre break against Australia in the 2015 Rugby World Cup decider at Twickenham — a fixture the All Blacks took 34-17 — yielded a try widely regarded as among the more memorable individual efforts in the history of tournament finals. His performance in the All Blacks' 38-27 victory over the Springboks at Ellis Park in 2013 was among his finest, a year in which he also took home the World Rugby Player of the Year award and a second New Zealand Rugby Player of the Year title. A lineout interception by Whitelock in the closing stages of the 2015 Rugby World Cup semi-final, which New Zealand won 20–18 over South Africa, is widely recalled as a defining moment of the contest. Retallick's first ten Test outings against South Africa yielded no defeats, a run that included a memorable 2013 try at Eden Park where he pierced the defensive line and ran 25 metres to touch down. Ox Nche (Springboks) — a prop who has publicly dismissed salads as unsuitable fuel for scrummaging — has delivered steady performances across 52 Test caps to support that stance. Introduced as a substitute with South Africa trailing England 15-6 in the semi-final, Nche contributed to keeping the team's 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign on track. One of his notable performances came in a scrum penalty try against the All Blacks in Soweto.
