ARK Invest Sells $73 Million in AMD, Shifts to Nvidia and Broadcom

On 28 August, ARK Invest divested approximately $72.8 million worth of AMD shares while acquiring around $53 million in Nvidia stock. The AMD stake was estimated to be worth around $74.5 million, while the Nvidia holding carried a value of approximately $55.6 million. The announcement followed Nvidia's most recent quarterly earnings report by just a few days. No statement from ARK has addressed whether the transaction reflects diminished confidence in AMD. Nvidia's fiscal second-quarter results showed total revenue of $96.2 billion, a 106% increase year-on-year, with Data Center income climbing 117% to reach $89 billion. The firm projected approximately $108 billion in revenue for the coming quarter. Revenue has been building on the back of robust consumer appetite, though executives note that production capacity continues to limit output. Following the earnings release, TD Cowen's Joshua Buchalter assessed Nvidia stock as trading well below its intrinsic worth. Revenue had the potential to nearly double if supply limitations were removed, according to the projection he put forward. Vivek Arya, an analyst at Bank of America, put forward a valuation argument ahead of the earnings release. Arya identified Nvidia shares as trading at a 34% to 50% discount relative to what its underlying fundamentals could support, while holding a price target of $350. According to its financial disclosures, AMD posted record quarterly revenue of $11.5 billion in the second quarter, a 50% rise from the same period last year, with Data Center sales more than doubling over that span. AMD's rack-scale AI platform, Helios, was on track to accelerate deployment through the latter half of the year, according to chief executive Lisa Su. Daniel Newman, chief executive of Futurum Group, described the quarter as satisfactory while noting that investors had anticipated a stronger forward outlook underpinned by Helios. In May, Goldman Sachs raised its rating on the stock to Buy, contending that AMD stands to benefit substantially from enterprise adoption of agentic AI, with rising demand expected to lift both server CPU sales and future data-centre GPU expansion. The company indicated that Nvidia and Broadcom remained its top relative preferences among chip stocks. The firm acquired approximately $20 million worth of Broadcom shares.
