Andy Burnham Declines to Rule Out UK Rejoining EU, Prioritizes Diplomatic Reset
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has declined to rule out Britain rejoining the European Union, describing the question as one for "another day." While traveling to the UN General Assembly in New York, Burnham stated his immediate priority is rebuilding diplomatic ties with the EU ahead of a planned bilateral summit. A dispute over the EU's Industrial Accelerator Act, also known as the Made in Europe legislation, has delayed the summit and prompted Burnham to seek a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The Prime Minister also faces internal Labour Party pressure to formally support UK re-entry into the EU.
