Abhishek Sharma Sets T20 Six-Hitting Records in India vs Pakistan Asian Games 2026 Final

Abhishek Sharma produced a record-breaking innings in the India vs Pakistan men's cricket final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, hitting seven sixes to become the second-fastest batter to 400 T20 sixes and equalling Yuvraj Singh's record for most sixes in a single India-Pakistan T20I innings. The match marked the first-ever meeting between the two nations at the Asian Games.

Stepping onto the Karogi Sports Park pitch that Saturday, Abhishek Sharma carried the weight of a potential gold medal — one that a victory over Pakistan in the 2026 Asian Games cricket final would deliver. From the opening exchanges, Abhishek kept Pakistan under consistent pressure, holding to a forward-leaning approach across the full contest. Needing just 3,513 deliveries to accumulate 400 sixes, Abhishek overtook the 3,557-ball benchmark that Chris Gayle had held, a fourth boundary-clearing hit in that innings lifting him into the runner-up position on the all-time T20 list for batters who have reached that total. Batting first against Pakistan in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 cricket final, India's men's team — led by Shreyas Iyer — secured the toss and opted to open their innings. Both teams had joined the continental cricket programme only at the 2023 Hangzhou Games, meaning their meeting in the title match was the first time they had faced each other anywhere in the tournament. A rain-shortened contest posed no obstacle for Pakistan, who knocked off the revised 112-run target with four wickets still standing and nine balls to spare, ending Bangladesh's run in the tournament. Persistent rainfall at the Nisshin venue had already forced cancellation of the quarterfinal matches for both teams, meaning their semifinal fixtures would mark each side's opening competitive appearance at the tournament.
